Jade Slate
Hell’s Most Wanted

By Robin Renee Ray

She stood on an overhang of the cliff, looking down onto the city that would feed her every need. The wind blew her dark red locks as her black cloak waved around her thighs. It was her third city in three nights and she was getting tired of the chase. Had she not had the Grim Reaper on her tail, she would have settled down in a dark tomb surrounded by tall, gray headstones. Jade Slate had leaped over the flames of hell and now ran for her freedom, feeding on the weak that fueled her speed.
Jade had been a hand-madden to the father of hell himself, while secretly loving on the son that he sired. She gave favor to both, until she found her way out. The Grim Reaper had something to prove, making Jade his main target, snatching the souls that she left behind. He would not allow a blood demon to beat him at his own game. It had been a five year long battle of hellish wits. Jade knew little about the world of the living, but she was learning at every turn. Each time she drank from a victim, their thoughts filtered through her mind. These humans gave her strength like nothing the human world had ever seen. She was ten times faster than any man on earth and twice as strong. Her voluptuous build and pale beauty made it easy to find plenty of friends to accompany her on a lonely night, though she was the only one to walk away from the carnage of the encounter.
She drove her motorcycle through the streets of Denver, turning down dark and isolated roads that smelled of filth and gave shelter to the homeless. Jade parked in a trash filled alley on the outskirts of the wrong side of the city and began walking in the direction of two legged food. Halfway down the broken sidewalk, a silver orb came from its depths. It appeared through a crack in the cement, unleashing a wart covered demon. Jade threw the sides of her coat back and grabbed the handle of a foot long blade, from her hip.
“Come on, you stinking piece of shit.”
“He demands your return,” the creature slurred.
“And he sent you?” she snorted, stepping back with her left foot. “Well come and get me.”
The demon opened its lipless mouth and screamed, throwing black, foul smelling slime all over Jade’s face. She turned her head and kicked out, hitting the disgusting being in its midsection. As it doubled over, Jade brought her blade down on the back of its deformed head. The creature dropped to the ground as the silver orb sank back into the sidewalk. The demon’s corpse turned to ash and blew away with the rest of the garbage. Jade gathered herself, knowing the son of sin wouldn’t be far behind.
“Hey lady, you lookin’ for a good time?” a slender, young boy asked.
“Not from you, little boy. You are no more than a mouth full.”
“I’ll do anything you want, and I’ll do it for a twenty.”
            “Go home,” she snapped.
“I am home, lady. You won’t find anything better out here. I’ll do you for ten.”
“Get the hell away from me, kid. You do not want to taste my pleasures.” Jade pushed him with more force than she meant to use, knocking him to the ground.
As Jade walked away from the filth incrusted boy, she reached into her pocket, then threw a fifty at him. Seeing a child on the streets was no concern of a she devil like Jade, not even in the worst of situations. Or so she thought. She looked back to see three older boy’s kicking the one who propositioned her just moments before and taking the money she had given him. She smiled and shook her head. Dinner was going to be something of a three course meal.
“Leave the kid alone!” she called out, as she took off her jacket.
“Who the hell are you? The Tomb Raider bitch?” one of the boys said and all three to started laughing.
“Something like that,” she replied, walking back with a sway in her hips.
“What the fuck are you gonna do?” the black boy asked.
“Tell the bitch, Smack,” a smaller white boy added, as Smack flipped a blade open.
“Want daddy to cut ya, baby?”
Jade swung her blade out so fast, that Smack didn’t even see his hand drop from his body. Before he could yell out, she drove the cold metal through his throat. The remaining two boys backed up as the smaller one pulled a gun and fired it, hitting Jade in the upper right chest. She stumbled back, grabbing her chest, then burst out laughing. “You stupid little boy. You can’t kill me with that tiny thing.” In three lightning fast steps, Jade seized the smaller boy, sinking her fangs in deep, gaining her fill before dropping his corpse to the ground.
“You da, Devil,” the last boy standing yelled, and then took off running.
“Not even close.” She smiled down at the young man that was still on the ground where she’d pushed him earlier. “Did one of them take your money?”
He nodded and pointed at the older boy who was disappearing around the corner across the street. “I’ll be back.” In the blink of the young boy’s eye, she was gone. The boy who was running darted into the first alley, dropping down by a dumpster. Jade stood at the opening of the dark alley, clicking at her teeth with her tongue and spitting out a piece of flesh. She could smell the boy’s fear and chuckled at his ignorance.
“Do you honestly think that trash bin is going to save you?”
The boy dashed out like a wild Jack rabbit. Jade had him in an instant. “Where’s the money?” she demanded, tightening her grip around his neck, as he dug the fifty out. As soon as she saw it, she bit down on his neck. After draining him of his lifeblood, she picked up the fifty and walked away. The boy who had first approached her was hobbling down the sidewalk, as fast as his lame leg allowed. Jade walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. He became so frightened that he tripped, falling once again to the ground.
“Please don’t kill me, I didn’t mean it,” he cried, covering his face.
“I’m just giving your money back, kid.”
            “You’re not gonna kill me?”
“Not unless you want me to. Is this street really your home?”
“Ma’am…you are a ma’am aren’t you?” he asked. “I don’t want you to—kill me that is, and yes, this street is really my home.”
“Then get up and let’s find you a better place to sleep tonight.”
            “Really?”
            “Really.” Jade smiled.
For the first time, Jade found she was fond of a human. After finding out that his name was Brett, and that he was eighteen, she put him on the back of her motorcycle and drove him to a cheap motel, in a neighborhood not far from where she had found him. She paid for a month’s stay and took the boy up to the room. It wasn’t the best place, but it would do to give the kid a break. The furnishings were old and worn. What items were left in the cabinets were too rusted or filthy to use. Jade dropped two, one-hundred dollar bills down on the oval coffee table in the living area of the two room kitchenette.
“Just in case, I don’t make it back.” Jade turned and left without giving Brett a chance to respond.
Brett ran out to say thank you, but Jade was nowhere to be found. She had already leaped over the banister that was outside his new place, dropping down the three stories to the foyer and was out the front door before the clerk behind the counter could look up.
Jade rode along until she found an all-night convenience store. Two Hispanic men were standing around the outside pay phone which was to the right of the store entrance. Both turned, watching her as she got off her bike. One licked his lips in a seductive manner as she walked up to the door. Jade rolled her eyes and walked in. After buying a small bag of snacks, and bathing items, she left the store only to find the other Hispanic man rubbing at his manhood and blowing her a kiss.
“Hey chica, you wanna have some fun.”
            “Go to hell.”
“We can make you feel real good,” the other said, licking his lips again.
            “You really want to play?”
“We can play all night, chica, can you?”
Jade got on her bike and cranked the motor. “Want to play—then follow me.” She backed out and then took off like a bat out of hell. Both men ran around the front of their patch work colored, blue and rust truck. As they tore away from the curb in their hot pursuit they left a cloud of white burning rubber. They followed Jade out of town and down a dirt road. Both men yelling and hooting the pleasures they offered, out the truck windows. Jade slowed her bike as she passed the vine covered stone fence that held the dead within, as she turned into its overgrown entrance.
“You’re loco, chica,” the passenger in the truck yelled, as it slowed to a stop some fifty yards away.
Jade got off her bike and walked around to its headlight beam. She took her jacket off and dropped it on the ground. Then, she began unzipping the leather sleeveless top. The center of her breast could now be seen by the two men that wanted more than just a peep show. The driver hesitated, then stepped on the gas pedal of the truck. He stopped a few feet from where Jade was standing. They sat in the truck and watched as she ran her hand inside her top. It was when she ran her tongue across her lips and her other hand over her private area, that the two got out.
            “You are one loco, bitch.”
“How loco do you like your, bitch?” Jade slid her top down her arms and let it fall.
The one with the mouth walked up and groped her right breast, as the other leaned back on the front of his truck. Jade smiled, then reached down and grabbed his crotch and gently applied pressure to the already rising heat that was eager to have its way with her. He turned and grinned back at his buddy. Returning his attention to Jade, he leaned in to take her breast into his mouth. She clapped down harder on his private part that was housed in her hand, causing him to yell out and backhanded her. “You fuckin’ crazy, bitch. I…” His complaint was cut short when Jade yanked, material and all, from his most delicate area. The man dropped like a rock, grabbing at what he no longer had. Blood pumped out from the empty cavity with every beat of his heart.
The man’s companion snuck up behind her, holding a large stick he picked up from the debris covered ground, hitting her over the back of the head as she leaned down to finish off the first pervert. Jade fell to the side and began laughing. She stood up, causing the man to back away. She unzipped her black leather pants and slid them down over her hips, and didn’t stop until they lay on the ground.
“You really shouldn’t have done that.” She smiled as her fingers elongated, with her nails becoming two inch long black talons. As her body began to morph into its true self, the man watched in horror. Terrified by what he saw, he took off running into the depths of the cemetery.
Jade now stood on cloven feet with green scales coating her once beautiful form. She smiled through jagged teeth that dripped slime down onto her deformed chest. Nothing about her resembled anything close to human and now this new form was looking to satisfy what the men had started. His breath gave him away and his fear fed her hunger. When she stepped in front of the headstone that he was hiding behind, he began screaming and begged for mercy in his own language. Jade’s reptilian head tilted to the side and an evil, lipless smile appeared.
“You don’t want to play anymore?” she asked with a slur.
“Please don’t kill me. Por favor! I have a family…please, please,” he begged with his hands together as if he were praying to the beast before him.
“But this was want you wanted. You wanted this so bad.” She rubbed her scale covered breasts that hung like two bags of blubber on her indented chest. “Your dick was hard before you jumped in your vehicle,” she stated.
“No mujer, it was his idea. Please God, don’t hurt me!”
“You are praying to the wrong deity, chico,” she hissed. With lightning speed, she left a hole where his manhood once was.
His screams could have been heard for miles, but no one was there to hear them. Jade transformed into her human form, and then dropped a handful of his intestines back onto his hollow torso. Her need to feed outweighed what she knew would come, even if her anger hadn’t called for the life of her offenders. She cleaned her fingers, and then licked her lip in a slow seductive way. Jade threw back her head and bellowed out a laugh that sent the sleeping birds flying. Jade shook the dripping gore from her hands and then slid them through her red locks. As she was walking back to her things, she heard the other man moan. She had completely forgotten about him.
Five minutes later, she was putting on her pants and wiping his blood off her mouth. The lives she took never laid on the ground for long. Her master’s, right hand asshole took care of that. The Grim Reaper never left a tainted soul uncollected.
She hadn’t quite made it to her motorcycle, when three red orbs came up through the graves around her. The middle red orb hovered only a few seconds, before it became larger and outstepped the gray demon himself.
“Hello Grim.”
“I’m getting tired of cleaning up your messes, Jade.”
“Then stop following me and leave them to the buzzards.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I love feeding on your kills. What I don’t like is, answering for your whereabouts and being the one who’s supposed to bring you back,” he replied, as two dog faced demons stepped out of the other two orbs.
“And you plan on doing that with those?” she laughed, slinging her leg over the seat of her bike. “Come and get me boys.”
Grim raised his hand, prompting the demons too take off after her.
As she kicked up rocks and dirt in their misshapen faces. Jade closed her eyes as she turned, leaving the entrance to the cemetery, and a wall of flames shot up behind her. Screeching and howls filled the night air as the demons ran through it, both hitting the ground and turning to ash. Grim growled, slamming his sickle down so hard a ripple ran through the headstones shattering them to dust. Jade knew he would retreat after he took care of the two Hispanic men. He would pull the evil side of their souls and burn the bodies with a mere look.
